The energy illusion is made up of many small i am thoughts or egos like the forest is the sum total of the trees. So the ego cannot destroy itself as it did not make itself so the Universal Self has to do that.As it does not Act a body is needed hence the guru who is the Self and kills the ego in the final instance...
